TanAsinN 来自于 2010 年左右创建于 4chan 的一个帖子，其中将 TanAsinN 奉为圭臬，并且宣称 TanAsinN 即为世界之真实。而作为一个日本冷门梗，其被用来描述一些无法被分类的独立另类音乐，如果一首音乐另类、小众，可以说这首曲子是“TanAsinN”的。

在日本，太田顺也、ぴろぴと、平泽进、Kanoguti、佐藤理等人的音乐或视频风格就是这么被描述的。在早期的百度贴吧，也能看到一些中国人宣传 TanAsinN。

TanAsinN 也被用来描述饼干音MAD。

TanAsinN 的神明吉祥物是由文字组成的叮当猫，TanAsinN 一词来自于三角函数的正切与正弦。
